One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.

Today, after worshiping with a community for the first time, after Worship, I was invited to go out and have a meal with some of the members. We sat outside and enjoyed soup and salad, and we talked for about an hour. Upon leaving, I thought, in all that talk we did not accomplish anything - meaning, nothing of what we talked about would be altered by all the sharing. Then, I recalled, something important happened, something more important than any observable changes. What? We shared with one another. That sharing was sacred, and such sharing with no practical intent is as important as the practical goals of change that we may easily become over-identified with and, thereby, miss out on the beauty and grace of just being with others. This is the Mystery of Love, which may as well manifest as impractical as practical. Or, possibly better, this Love will transform our understanding of Itself, and transcend altogether the opposites of practical and impractical.
